India’s manufacturing story is getting stronger — and global precision technology companies are taking notice.
Swiss precision manufacturing company Feintool has officially opened its first production facility in India, located in Pune, one of the country’s fastest-growing industrial hubs.
The new plant represents more than just a new factory. It reflects a major shift in global manufacturing — where companies are moving closer to customers, building local supply chains, and investing in India’s growing automotive ecosystem.
Building Precision Components for India’s Automotive Future
The Pune facility has started production to support initial customer orders, focusing on fineblanked automotive components — a technology known for producing high-precision parts with excellent surface quality and dimensional accuracy.
With the automotive industry moving toward higher efficiency, lightweight designs, and advanced components, precision manufacturing has become a key factor in the future of mobility.
At the inauguration, Feintool CEO Lars Reich highlighted the importance of the Indian market:
“Feintool is proud to meet its customers’ demand for local production in India with the facility in Pune.”
He added that India’s automotive growth creates new opportunities for sustainable expansion.
Why India Matters for Global Manufacturing
India is already the third-largest automotive market in the world and continues to attract global investments.
For manufacturers, India is not only a production location but also becoming a major export hub.
Many automotive companies are expanding their operations in India and need reliable local suppliers who can deliver global-quality components.
Feintool’s Pune facility is designed to support this growing demand with local manufacturing backed by international expertise.
Local Production, Global Technology
Feintool operates 18 production sites across Asia, Europe, and the United States, providing high-volume manufacturing solutions through:
- Fineblanking
- Cold forming
- E-lamination stamping
According to Marcel Pernici, President of Feintool Asia, the company’s “local-for-local” strategy helps customers get faster support while using Feintool’s global engineering knowledge.
This approach helps companies reduce supply chain risks and improve manufacturing reliability.
Future Expansion: EV, E-Motors & Hydrogen Applications
The Pune facility is not only focused on today’s automotive needs.
Feintool plans future expansion into:
- Cold forming technologies
- E-motor core production
- Hydrogen-related applications
Tobias Gries, Managing Director India, explained that the company has built a strong team in India and is prepared for future growth.
The first phase will focus on fineblanked automotive seating systems, while the plant has the capability to expand as market demand increases.
India’s Manufacturing Momentum Continues
The entry of companies like Feintool shows the growing confidence in India’s manufacturing sector.
From automotive components to electric mobility and advanced engineering, India is becoming a key destination for global manufacturing innovation.
The future of manufacturing will belong to companies that combine:
Global technology + Local production + Skilled engineering talent
And Pune’s new Feintool facility is another example of this transformation.
